I read on Twitter that George Groves has asked the World Boxing Super Series to delay the final which had been scheduled for 2 June due to him having a shoulder operation.
I very much hope George is standing opposite me in the final and wish him the speediest and fullest of recoveries. I entered the Series to become win a world title having been frustrated by the position I found myself in with Anthony Dirrell - I will be gutted to miss out on the chance to fight Groves for the WBA (super) title and possibly the Ring Magazine title.
If the Series decide not to postpone the final, I ask fans to still get behind the finals and to continue to support everything the Series has done for boxing. The Cruiserweight division has been exceptional. The Supermiddleweight division has produced some great fights, regular fights, along with the odd twist and turn! It says it all that other champions are already lining up to call out the winner when some ducked entering into it in the first place.
Boxing fans can be assured, if George is ruled out of the final, we will do all we can to ensure that we meet in the ring at some point soon, irrespective of the outcome of the final.
Until we meet in the ring, my fingers are crossed for you George.
